Shakhtar played Mariupol away in the Premier League MD8 game
Shakhtar’s starting lineup featured many young Ukrainian footballers: Yukhym Konoplia and Viktor Korniienko operated as full-backs, Artem Bondarenko helped Taras Stepanenko in midfield, Mykhailo Mudryk played as a left winger, with Danyil Sikan having a centre-forward role.
Youngsters’ debut goals
Shakhtar started at an average pace and immediately tried to overcome the opposing defence by individual brilliance, with almost the first team move resulting in a goal: in the 18th minute Tete found Alan Patrick with a pass in the penalty area, the latter sent the ball to the edge of the goal area, and Danyil Sikan lobbed it over the keeper. 0-1 – it’s the 20-year-old striker's debut goal for Shakhtar. A couple of minutes later, Mykhailo Mudryk supported the initiative and also scored his first goal for Shakhtar thanks to Konoplia’s assist, making it 0-2. The Donetsk team continued to confidently control the play, with Konoplia (wide), Alan Patrick (saved by Kudryk) and Sikan (wide) having chances to excel.
Sudakov's double and Konoplia’s three assists
The second half was opened by Stepanenko's threatening attempt but it went high. Shortly, the Miners scored an early goal: in the 54th minute, Tete headed home Yukhym Konoplia’s assist, making it 0-3. Korniienko’free-kick nearly hit the target - the ball whizzed just inches off the post. Midway through the second half, Roberto De Zerbi made a number of substitutions, fielding Marcos Antonio, Heorhii Sudakov, Manor Solomon and Valerii Bondar who recovered from a heavy injury and took to the field for the first time this season. Solomon was the first in this company who could score one, but he sent Konoplia’s pass wide. Then, Marcos's effort went very close to the bottom corner. Then Heorhii Sudakov used his chance and netted Shakhtar's fourth goal thanks to Korniienko’s assist! In the very next attack, the young midfielder scored a double: Konoplia received the ball from Marcos and fed the onrushing Sudakov who beat Kudryk.
5-0 - Shakhtar confidently defeated Mariupol. At the NSC Olimpiyskiy on September 22, the Miners will compete for the Ukrainian Super Cup vs Dynamo. The match kicks off at 21:00.
