The Miners played vs Mariupol in the Ukrainian Youth League round 8 in Shchaslyve

Tight schedule

Shakhtar U19 played the regular league match two days after a 5-0 win over Sheriff in the UEFA Youth League. Nevertheless, Oskar Ratulutra made only two substitutions compared to the European Cup match: Nazarii Havryliuk appeared at right-back instead of Dmytro Kapinus, and Vladyslav Pohorilyi played as a striker in the first half.

Total dominance

From the first minutes, Shakhtar seized the playing advantage and began to put pressure on Mariupol’s defensive third. In the 11th minute, Andrii Buleza managed to open the scoring: the left-back picked up the ball in the penalty area and hammered a low ball inside the far corner. Before the break, the Miners were close to netting another one on a few occasions, preventing their opponents from ever approaching Denys Tvardovskyi's goal.

Buleza’s brace

In the second half, the game pattern did not change, with the Miners’ resulting in three more goals. Artem Veklenko converted Illia Hulko’s assist by forwarding the ball just under the goalkeeper. Shortly after that, Buleza scored a double by directing the ball into the back of the net after Hulko’s point-blank attempt. The captain also took part in netting the fourth goal by sending Honcharuk through on target. The defender knocked the ball out from under the striker's feet, but right into the path of Anton Hluschenko who has scored in the fifth match in a row. After that, Mariupol managed to score a consolation goal - Mykyta Khimichev finished off an assist at the far post.

Shakhtar U19 continue topping the Ukrainian Youth League table with the maximum figures - 8 wins in 8 matches. In the next round, the Miners will face their Veres counterparts.
