The head coach of Shakhtar women's team Roman Zaiev spoke about the female players’ training, their condition and possible off-season friendlies
- The team have begun the third stage of preparation, what are you focussing on?
- We are trying to add intensity, so we are working on our pace at the moment. The girls are doing well.
- What is the players’ fitness, how close are they to the optimum form?
- The training camp aimed at developing those qualities has just begun. We’ve been working for a week, with two more weeks ahead. I suppose the team are about 70 to 75 percent ready.
- Do you have any friendlies scheduled anytime soon?
- We have made offers to the teams who are in close proximity to us and are waiting for their answers. Hopefully, we will play some games on February 19 and February 26. We also want to take part in the tournament that starts in Antalya on the 1st of March.
- How difficult is it to hold a training camp in the absence of matches?
- We try to pay a lot of attention to game exercises based around tactics. Of course, there is a psychological factor that affects it, resulting in our desire to get some match practice. I believe that as soon as our matches are confirmed, everything will get back to normal.
