The charitable organizations teamed up to support war victims
Shakhtar Social continues its cooperation with the charitable Shift360 Foundation, Switzerland, which began back in March 2022. The organizations have focussed their joint efforts on helping the children whose parents were killed due to the full-scale war in Ukraine. To date, the assistance has been provided to seven families bringing up 10 children from Mariupol (Donetsk region), Popasna (Luhansk region), Shevchenkove (Kyiv region), Kyiv and Zaporizhzhia.
As part of the project, families receive financial support, humanitarian and medical assistance, which contributes to the adaptation of children and their health restoration, also helping in their education.
One of the aid beneficiaries is a six-year-old Illia Kostushevych, the boy from Mariupol who wrote a letter to the British Prime Minister Boris Johnson in May.
Pierre Tami, Shift360 Foundation CEO:
“Shift360 is a Swiss-registered foundation operating in Cambodia, the country that was involved in a brutal ten-year war, so we understand the tragedies of war. When the war broke out in Ukraine, thousands of civilians were forced to flee Russian bombing and shelling, resulting in a humanitarian crisis. Shift360 has decided to raise funds for thousands of women and children fleeing the war and seeking asylum. The Foundation has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Shakhtar Social, FC Shakhtar’s charitable organization, on the allocation of funds to support shelters that create the necessary conditions for refugees to stay, along with comfortable and safe conditions for children. Shift360 is also raising funds to help the Shakhtar Social Foundation to support the kids orphaned by the hostilities. We feel privileged to be able to care for and help other people in partnership with the Shakhtar Social Foundation because we value life.”
The programme to help children affected by the war continues. As part of the cooperation between Shakhtar Social and the Shift360 Foundation, they plan to expand the programme and provide assistance to more families.
We want to point out that from February 24 to July 1, SCM businesses, the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation and FC Shakhtar have granted more than UAH 2.7 billion or about USD 90 million to help Ukraine and Ukrainians, with the amount increasing daily. Humanitarian aid has already reached over three million people.
