Shakhtar faced Metalist in the Ukrainian U19 league round 5

The Miners had a successful season start: they got 10 points in 4 matches and are in the leader group. Kharkiv-based team gained 4 points during the same period and are 10th in the table. The match took place in Vynnyky with delay of 1 hour 15 minutes due to air raid alert.

Intense opening

Oskar Ratulutra’s side actively entered the game and scored already in the 4th minute: Losenko made an excellent pass to Pohorilyi, forward sent a cross to the box and Mykhailo Khromey backheeled it into the back of the net. Shortly after, the Kharkiv players had one man down (Daniel Vernattus was sent off for a desperate foul) and the Miners quickly used their quantitative advantage: in the 14th minute, Losenko diagonally fed Veklenko on the right wing across the half of the filed, he passed to Vladislav Pohorilyi who hit the target making it 0-2. The Pitmen completely took the initiative in the game by the end of the half and increase the score to a big one: in the 31st minute, Veklenko passed to Buleza on the left, the defender rolled it to the penalty line and Ivan Losenko fired it into the top corner with one touch making it 0-3.

Another demolition job

Oskar Ratulutra’s made 4 substitutions during the break fielding Bashmarin, Oharkov, Bundash and Pushkaryov. The Orange-and-Blacks continued to play on top creating dangerous chances near the goal of the nominal hosts and scored another goal in the 60th minute: Oharkov forwarded the ball into Pushkaryov’s path, Oleh rolled it to the 11-metre mark from the left edge of the penalty area and Vladislav Pohorilyi made a double with an accurate shot, 0-4. The best scorer of the championship was immediately changed by 16-year-old Denys Smetana and the Miners did not stop scoring the 5th goal in the 67th minute. Khromey skilfully sent the ball behind the Metalist defenders from the deep, Artem Veklenko chested it and shot past the keeper. The visitors slowed down a little during the dying minutes, but easily secured a win.

5-0 – Shakhtar U19 demolish Metalist U19 and remain among the leaders of the U19 Ukrainian Championship gaining 13 points. Oskar Ratulutra’s team will play the next match on October 5. The Orange-and-Blacks will face Real Madrid U19 in Spain as a part of the UEFA Youth League MD3.
