Shakhtar played against Inhulets in the UPL round 14
Head coach of the Miners Marino Pusic chose the following starting line-up for this game: Riznyk played in the goal, Vinicius Tobias and Azarov appeared on the defensive wings, Bondar and Franjic played in the centre of defence, Kryskiv, Bondarenko and Sudakov acted in the middle of the field as usual, Zubkov (with the captain’s armband) and Kevin were the wingers, and Sikan had a central forward position.
Police lieutenant Vasyl Ivanovych (call sign Profesor), soldier of the Enei Special Operations Battalion of the Liut United Assault Brigade of the National Police, took the first symbolic kick in the match. In May of this year, Vasyl performed combat missions in Kharkiv Oblast with his brothers-in-arms, liberating Ukrainian lands from the enemy. In June, his unit was transferred to Donbas, where he was seriously wounded in fierce battles near Toretsk. Despite the hardships, the heroic warrior remains a symbol of resilience and perseverance.

Permanent pressure and a goal at the end of the half
From the start of the meeting, Shakhtar completely seized the game initiative and spent almost all the time in the opponent’s half of the field. Sikan had the first moment already in the opening stages, when he shot next to the left post after Kevin’s pas. The Petrove team responded with their opportunity, when Riznyk saved a dangerous shot by Piatov. Then the visiting team goalkeeper made a save, returning Zubkov’s shot under the far post. In the middle of the half, Palamarchuk saved his team three more times after shots by Kevin, Kryskiv and Zubkov, and in the 42nd minute, the Pitmen were awarded a penalty (Malysh had a handball in his own penalty area), but Sudakov’s shot to the right bottom corner was also blocked by the goalkeeper of Inhulets. And yet, Marino Pusic’s team left for a break with the lead: in the added time, after a combination move with Zubkov and Sikan, Artem Bondarenko hit the near corner from the penalty area – 1-0.
Thrashing with goals for every taste
The Orange-and-Blacks managed to seal their lead at the very beginning of the second half. In the 47th minute, after a corner kick on the right wing, Zubkov made a cross to the far corner of the goalmouth, which Bartol Franjic turned right home with a header. 2-0 – this is the debut goal of the Croatian defender for Shakhtar in official matches. And the score became big already in the 50th minute: Zubkov rushed through the wing in a quick attack and passed to the semi-circle, from where Kevin hit the right corner with a one-touch shot – 3-0. In the middle of the half, Marino Pusic made a triple substitution, fielding Pedrinho, Newertton and Eguinaldo, and it brought a result almost immediately. First, the opponents exchanged sharp moments: Bilotserkivets’ shot was turned for a corner by Riznyk, and Palamarchuk blocked Eguinaldo’s attempt. But in the 70th minute, the Petrove team conceded the fourth goal: Newertton and Pedrinho launched a counterattack, the latter passed to the penalty area, and Eguinaldo headed the ball into the net– 4-0. However, the Pitmen did not stop there. In the 79th minute, Oleksandr Zubkov added a scored goal to his two assists when he curved the ball under the far post in his signature style after a pass from Kryskiv – 5-0. And in the 82nd minute, the Brazilian trio set the final result: Pedrinho played on the left to Newertton, who made a cross to the penalty area, and Eguinaldo hit the already empty net, scoring a brace.
6-0 – Shakhtar confidently defeated Inhulets and will now prepare for the match in the European arena.
On Wednesday, November 27, the Miners will play an away match against the champions of the Netherlands PSV in Eindhoven. The game will take place at the Philips Stadion and will kick off at 22:00 Kyiv time.
