Shakhtar U19 hosted Kolos Kovalivka U19 on the Youth League MD25
The coaching staff of Shakhtar U19 chose the following starting line-up for the game against Kolos U19: Bahlai played in the goal, Oharkov and Reshetnikov acted on the defensive wings, Arroyo and Bashmarin played in the centre of defence, Davydenko, Smetana and Tiutiunov were in midfield, Tsukanov and Drozd appeared as wingers, with Lomaha in the centre-forward role.

The Miners immediately took control of the ball and began looking for ways to approach Korobchenko’s net. The first dangerous opportunity was created by Tsukanov, who moved from the flank, drew several opponents and aimed for the far corner – the ball narrowly missed the net. However, the next attack of the Orange-and-Blacks was successful: after the corner kick, Oharkov took the right position and hit the corner with a header – 1-0. A minute later, the visiting team could have pulled one back: Bezruchuk went one on one with Bahlai, but the goalkeeper timely narrowed the angle and parried the shot. After conceding the goal, the Kovalivka team became more active and eventually equalised the score in the 23rd minute, when Zehriuk accurately shot past Bahlai – 1-1. Later, the Pitmen regained control of the game and had a chance to take the lead again: Smetana took a promising free kick over the wall and aimed under the crossbar, but Korobchenko reacted brilliantly and turned the ball for a corner. The final minutes of the first half were spent in a struggle in every part of the field, but the opponents did not create other scoring opportunities.
Tsukanov’s shot secured a win
After the break, head coach of the Orange-and-Blacks Oleksii Bielik made a double substitution: Zheliba and Halonskyi came on instead of Reshetnikov and Arroyo. The Miners started the second half of the match actively, trying to combine near the opponent’s penalty area, while Kolos U19 focused on playing with counterattacks. The Pitmen methodically destabilised the defensive redoubts of the visiting team, changing the direction of attacks between the wings, but there were no final shots. Instead, in the 57th minute, the Kovalivka team launched a dangerous attack, which was completed by Merva – Bahlai reacted while falling and saved the team. A few minutes later, the Miners responded: Lomaha shot from a convenient position, but the ball went wide. And yet, in the 66th minute, the efforts of the Pitmen paid off. Tsukanov broke into the penalty area and hit the far corner with a firm shot – 2-1. In the final part of the meeting, there was a struggle mainly in the centre of the field, but despite the efforts of both teams, the score remained unchanged.
2-1 – Shakhtar U19 claimed an important victory over their Kolos counterparts in a difficult match. In the next round, the Miners will have a crucial game against their direct competitors in the fight for leadership – Dynamo Kyiv U19.
