Bohdan's mother and stepfather died as a result of shelling. When the boy learned about the death of his family, he did not believe it at first and went alone to the place of shelling to see for himself. National police officers evacuated the child to a safe place. In July 2023, a couple from Kyiv took Bohdan under their care.

Shakhtar Social provided financial assistance to the family and bought the necessary household appliances.
