In May 2022, the building, where Sofiia and her mother, grandmother, sisters and brothers have been hiding, was hit by a missile. The girl miraculously survived and her relatives are missing, they were trapped under rubble. There is no official confirmation of death, as it is impossible to remove the rubble. The wounded Sofiia was rescued by the soldiers, her godmother registered a custody over her.

Shakhtar Social provided the family with financial assistance, purchased household appliances, a computer for studying and clothes, as well as organized a trip to Warsaw for Shakhtar's Champions League match.
