The main event of the U21 league round 3 will be a meeting between Shakhtar and Dynamo

August 2, Chapayivka, Dynamo UTB, 17:00

Before the match

Shakhtar won two opening games, although both of them were hard-fought and secured through character. In this fashion, they beat Desna (2-1) and Arsenal-Kyiv (3-2). Despite the fact that Valeriy Kryventsov’s team got significantly younger, the more experienced players continue setting the pace: four of the five goals were scored by Oleksandr Hlahola and Artem Dudik. Although the young newcomers try not to lag behind: Mykhailo Mudryk scored his debut goal in the match vs the Gunners, with Illia Vasylevych assisting his teammates on two occasions. On July 30, the five internationals who won bronze medals at the European Youth Championship, have returned to the Shakhtar U21 camp, but it is not yet known in what state they will approach the forthcoming meeting.

The fact that Valeriy Kryventsov’s boys won four of their recent five U21 ‘Clasicos’  along with one draw, makes the upcoming event even more exciting. That draw, incidentally, brought the Miners gold medals last season.

Opponents

Dynamo U21 also significantly changed in comparison with the previous league season. In the summer, Bohdan Lednev and Vladyslav Dubinchak left the outfit, with a group of three new performers joining the team: the defender Oleksandr Romanchuk and midfielder Yurii Shpyrka, who previously played for Lviv, as well as midfielder Dmytro Kopytov (former Stal player). At the same time, in the last two rounds, Yurii Moroz’s lads got serious strengthening by the first team players. Makhankov, Rudko, Sidklei, Kalitvintsev and Rusin took part in the games vs Vorskla (2-0) and Lviv (2-1).

Head-to-head record

In the U21 championship, the opponents met 32 times and have full performance parity of 11 wins and 10 draws.
