We bring up champions

Academy's objective is bringing up and developing young players, preparing them to play for the first team.

The FC Shakhtar Academy teams U14 to U21 are based in Schaslyve, Kyiv Oblast.

A total of 140 football players are trained at the professional Academy under the supervision of 21 coaches.

Shakhtar players have 6 fields at their disposal (4 natural pitches and 2 synthetic ones), with matches being held at two arenas of the complex. Teams U19 and U21 receive their Ukrainian league opponents at the Knyazha Arena stadium under the aegis of the Premier League.

The training base area has a hotel, a room for theory sessions and a gym. There is also a general education school there.

The Children's Academy for juniors under 13 operates in Donetsk. The pupils train on synthetic pitches and at the indoor facility of the Central Stadium Shakhtar.

The FC Shakhtar Academy was founded in 2000.

Since the start of operation, the number of graduates has exceeded 500. Over the recent five years, the following graduates have joined the senior team starting XI: Yaroslav Rakits’kyy, Ivan Ordets, Viktor Kovalenko, Maksym Malyshev and Bohdan Butko. Also, Mykyta Shevchenko, Oleksandr Zubkov, Andrii Boriachuk, Serhii Bolbat, Viacheslav Tankovskyi, Mykola Matviienko, Eduard Sobol, Serhii Hryn, Andrii Totovytskyi, Ihor Kiryukhantsev, Oleksandr Pikhalyonok and others debuted for the first team.

The academy teams’ top achievement is advancement of Shakhtar U19 to the 2014/15 UEFA Youth League final.

In 2017, the Argentinean specialist Jorge Raffo took charge of the Shakhtar Academy as its Director after heading the Academies of Barcelona and Club Atlético Boca Juniors.

Trials

In March and early August, they hold open days at the training base in Schaslyve (Kyiv Oblast) for the trials of young players and shortlisting candidates to be admitted to the Academy. Information about the dates and time will be posted in advance in FC Shakhtar’s social networking accounts.
