Preview

Before the match

The Miners stepped it up in the course of the tournament both performance and results wise. Thus, in the previous match the team of Serhii Shyschenko dominated the pitch for 90 minutes and, as a result, proved stronger than Napoli (2-1) away. Now the Orange-and-Blacks have four points and a chance of advancing to the knockout phase: in the last meeting they need to beat Man City with a difference of at least four goals, provided that Napoli defeat Feyenoord.

Opponents

Manchester City won 4 starting games, thereby meeting their competitive objective: the Englishmen will finish as the top side whatever the outcome (13 points, goal difference 13-5). In the 5th round, they allowed themselves to experiment with the line-up and shared the points with Feyenoord, making it much more difficult for the Miners to reach the next round. The Man City’s top scorer this season is Taylor Richards (3 goals), who turned only 17 on December 4.

Head-to-head record

The teams met on September 26 in Manchester. The Donetsk team played the first half on equal terms, conceding one just before the break (Letibeaudiere). Early in the second half, the opponents exchanged goals between Foden and Yakymets. Until the end of the meeting the Orange-and-Blacks did not leave attempts to pull a draw, but in the dying seconds Richards sealed the 3-1 win.
