Shakhtar are to face Bosnian club Sarajevo. The game will kick off at 18:30 Kyiv time.

FK Sarajevo was founded in 1946. Throughout their history, the team became the champions of Yugoslavia twice (1967, 1985), won the League of Bosnia and Herzegovina 5 times (1999, 2007, 2015, 2019, 2020), won 7 domestic Cups and 1 Super Cup. Sarajevo finished the 2023/24 season in the 4th spot in the Premier League of Bosnia and Herzegovina and earned the right to participate in the qualifying round of the UEFA Conference League, where they will face Aktobe (Kazakhstan).

Since June this year, the head coach of Sarajevo is 50-year-old Croatian specialist Zoran Zekic, who previously coached Sherif (Moldova), Diosgyor (Hungary), Slaven (Croatia), Partizani (Albania) and Osijek (Croatia). The most prolific players of the team in the previous season were forwards Hamza Catakovic (19 goals) and Brazilian Renan Oliveira (11 goals and 4 assists). According to Transfermarkt, the club’s most valuable player is 19-year-old central midfielder Muhamed Buljubasic (EUR 800,000). During the summer pre-season, the Bosnians have already held one friendly match, defeating Romanian Arad 3-1 (Catakovic, Beganovic and Andusic scored goals).

Shakhtar and Sarajevo met in a test match on February 8, 2023 in Turkey. Then the Miners claimed a confident 4-0 victory (Stepanenko, 28′; Traore, 33′; Sudakov, 36′; Traore, 55′).
