Before the match
 
The winter training camp has reached the final straight. Shakhtar had six friendlies and four wins in Turkey. On Monday, the Orange-and-Blacks demolished Botev, Bulgaria 6-1 (Andriy Totovytskyi and Olarenwaju Kayode have a brace each, with two more goals scored by Bohdan Butko and Maycon).
 
After the previous meeting, Paulo Fonseca was pleased with Valerii Bondar and Serhii Chobotenko, who formed for the first the centre-back pairing and spent 90 minutes on the pitch. Ivan Ordets and the newcomer Valerii Bondarenko are still recovering. At the same time, Fernando returned to the ranks and played for about 30 minutes vs Botev.

Wacker was founded in June 2002. The club is based in Innsbruck and play at the Tivoli Stadion Tirol, which hosted three European Championship games in 2008. The club colours are black and green.
 
Last season, the team claimed the Erste Liga title (Austria’s second division), currently competing in the Bundesliga. After 18 rounds, they are sitting in the 10th spot with 17 points, being ahead of Altach and Admira only. In general, Wacker have no top-flight achievements, with the 6th spot being their best result.
 
The team manager is the 65-year-old Austrian Karl Daxbacher. In 2009, he visited Donetsk with Austria Wien for the European club cup game vs Metalurh, in the summer of 2011 they played a friendly vs Shakhtar in Austria (the Miners won 3-1), also suffering two Europa League group stage defeats at the hands of Metalist featuring Taison the same autumn.

Shakhtar defeated Wacker three times in Austria. In 2011, the win (2-0) was secured through the precision shots of Yevhen Seleznov and Douglas Costa; in 2013, the same score was claimed by Luiz Adriano and Wellington Nem; and in 2014, Ilsinho, Jurgen Saumel and Anton Shynder scored goals (2-1).
