Shakhtar players reflect on the match against Chornomorets

Ihor Kiryukhantsev, Shakhtar U21 defender:

- It was a bit unexpected to appear in the winger role, although I still have the youth school skill as I even used to play as a striker. But it was the first-touch goal! I want to dedicate this goal to my uncle and the husband of my sister, who, unfortunately, are no longer alive. That’s very important to me ... In spite of the comfortable scoreline, it was not easy for me to join the game, since the Odesans were fighting to the end, being a very troublesome team. We did not think about our next game against the Kyiv side, since we approach every meeting as a crucial one. And now it’s time to prepare for the meeting against Dynamo.

At half-time, the coach encouraged us and said that we would surely have more scoring chances, and it was important to convert them. Therefore, we carefully prepared our attacking moves
Artem Ivanov, Shakhtar U21 midfielder:

- Of course, I’m very happy with my goal – being my first this season! We understood that we would play the second half downwind and must make more shots on target, delivering long balls just behind the defenders. At half-time, the coach encouraged us and said that we would surely have more scoring chances, and it was important to convert them. Therefore, we carefully prepared our attacking moves. Perhaps our nervousness in the first half has been linked with the fear of losing points, as we cannot let that happen. Notwithstanding the fact that Chornomorets beat Dynamo this season, they showed next to nothing on the pitch, being quite successful at putting us under pressure though.

Today, I thought I would take the pitch – this, by the way, is my debut appearance for Shakhtar reserve team. I feel comfortable in the holding area closer to the attacking third
Oleksiy Zynkevych, Shakhtar U21 midfielder:

- The game was not as easy as can be judged by the scoreline. In the second half, we steped it up and achieved victory. In the dressing room, the coach quoted a great football player Johan Cruyff - I think it had a good effect on the team, boosting their morale. Today, I thought I would take the pitch – this, by the way, is my debut appearance for Shakhtar reserve team. I feel comfortable in the holding area closer to the attacking third. Fielding me as a sub player, the coach requested me to establish control in midfield. I think it worked well!
