Before the match

Fans are expecting the encounters between two worthy opponents. In the previous stages of the Europa League, Shakhtar edged past Schalke, Anderlecht and Braga, while Sevilla knocked Molde, Basel and Athletic off the competition. The only thought and purpose both teams should have at this stage is advancing to final on the basis of a two-legged tie.

Sevilla mentor Unai Emery brought 22 players for the away game vs Shakhtar. Lviv welcomed the goalkeepers Sergio Rico, David Soria and Juan Soriano, Mariano, the defenders Koke, Escudero, Kolodziejczak, Tremolinas, Pareja and Rami, midfielders Carriço, Grzegorz Krychowiak, Cristoforo, Nzonzi, Iborra, Banega, Krohn-Delhi, Vitolo and Konoplyanka, as well as strikers Gameiro, Llorente and Muñoz.

Jose Antonio Reyes, who recently underwent an appendectomy surgery, will miss the game. At the press conference, Emery answered the question about the availability of Rami and Vitolo, who suffered injuries: a decision on their participation will be taken by the Spaniards’ mentor closer to the game.

Match background

Shakhtar met with Sevilla at the UEFA Cup Last 16 back in March 2007. The teams met twice. The duel at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán ended in a 2-2 draw, with the Spaniards winning 3-2 the return game in Donetsk.
