Shakhtar defender talks about preparation for the upcoming meetings

- Ivan, tell us a few words about Sevilla first. Did the Spaniards surprise you with anything in the first leg?
- No, we expected just that kind of game. We started not very confidently, maybe because we were afraid to make a mistake. But over time, we felt increasingly more confident, scored two goals, created lots of chances, with Taras Stepanenko and Maksym Malyshev winning numerous challenges in midfield. Had they added another five minutes to the first half, we would have scored a third goal. But in the second half, different Sevilla took to the pitch. They had more control of the ball. And then they awarded a spot kick against us... Facundo said that the spot kick was awarded fairly, but judging by video replays, that’s a 50-50 situation.

- On May 1, Shakhtar are facing a tough encounter with Dynamo. Will you have enough strength for the return leg against Spain, given that it is necessary to attack in Seville?
- All the lads understand that you don’t play in the Europa league semi-finals every day. Therefore, Shakhtar will give their all to claim a victory! There will be four days left after the game vs Dynamo. That's enough time to recover. Much will also depend on the outcome of the meeting with Kyiv. Because winning always helps you recover more quickly both psychologically and physically.

- What kind of performance do you expect this Sunday?
- We don’t need to get mentally prepared for Dynamo. The match will be crucial despite the fact that it doesn’t decide anything in competitive terms. It will be a battle for the club image, for prestige. This clash can be well compared with the El Clasico Real vs Barcelona. I am sure it will be the game full of challenges and dedication. In the first half of the season, we claimed a confident win. Surely Kyiv would want to take revenge, so I am sure that they will field the first team regulars.

- Who can you personally highlight at Dynamo               ?
- Of course, primarily Andriy Yarmolenko. He's a top-notch player, as evidenced which is evidenced by the European clubs taking interest in him. Offensively, I would also mention Moraes. But Kyiv’s strongest third is defence. It is no coincidence they have conceded the least goals in the current league season.

- Shakhtar continue taking part in the Europa League and the Ukrainian Cup, having just a hectic schedule. How do you feel physically?
- Of course, it’s not easy now, we play once in three days. But Mister tries to use rotation when possible.

- Do you feel confident being paired with more experienced defenders Oleksandr Kucher and Yaroslav Rakits’kyy?
- It’s a pleasure to play with them! For example, Oleksandr always prompts me many things, never letting me get slack. This helps not just me, but also Maksym Malyshev, Taras Stepanenko, Ismaily and Darijo.

- After Dynamo, you have to travel to Seville. Does it mean that on Sunday you will try to spare yourselves?
- No, no one will spare themselves! We will fight for the victory until the last second of the match!
