The footballing July turned out to be eventful for Shakhtar and their fans
Paulo Fonseca's team completed their training camp in the Netherlands, and started the official season with a Super Cup tie. The Pitmen also started their new Champions League campaign, where they were drawn against the strong Swiss rivals Young Boys. In July, the Orange-and-Blacks had a total of 7 games, in which they scored 16 goals.
This month, the Pitmen have played three friendly games at the training camp in the Netherlands, two games in the recently launched domestic league, plus a Ukrainian Super Cup tie and one Champions League qualifying stage game.
Many of the goals will be remembered not only by the fans, but also by the scorers. Fred has scored the first official goal of the 2016/17 season. He also netted, perhaps, the most beautiful goal when in the match against Chornomorets he fired a long-range smasher into the back of Odesa’s net. Ievgen Seleznov scored another one for Shakhtar. In July, he got himself on the scoresheet three times. By the way, Fred, Bernard and Eduardo scored the same number of goals each.
