Before the match

Paulo Fonseca somewhat changed the line-up. Thus, Bohdan Butko made his debut for Shakhtar, replacing Ismaily as a left-wing back. Ivan Ordets once again was coupled with Yaroslav Rakitskyy in the centre-back. In the holding zone Taras Stepanenko, who was missing the game due to suspension, was replaced by Maksym Malyshev, Taison left his midfield spot for Dentinho, and the role of the centre-forward this time was left for Eduardo. The match with the Stal was special for Fred, who made his 100th appearance in a Shakhtar jersey. The Pitmen also honoured the miners professional holiday by play in the 'Happy Miner's Day!' jerseys.

First half

Paulo Fonseca's squad had an advantage from the starting minutes. Dentinho could score in the opening but his header was slightly inaccurate. Having levelled the game, Stal players had a chance to score an oepner as well, but Andriy Pyatovmade a save after a shot by Deula, deflecting the ball to a corner. In the first half, it was perhaps the only time when the Kamianske team disturbed the Shakhtar's area. Subsequently the game developed only on the home team's side.

Second half

The Pitmen's advantage became even more overwhelming. The Orange-and-Blacks shut the opponents on their half of the field and started to use long shots. In the 48th minute a dangerous shot by Fred was a little inaccurate. Later, Yaroslav Rakitskyy and Viktor Kovalenko were also unsuccessful. The Shakhtar players' activity at the Stal's goal had increased even more after the fielding of Ismaily and Wellington Nem, who made his 50th appearance for Pitmen.
Facundo Ferreyra's fielding as a sub turned out to be efficient. The Argentinian could open the scoring immediately after his appearance on the field, but did not manage to score from close range through the defenders' legs. In the remaining time before the final whistle Paulo Fonseca's squad controlled the game. At the same time Kovalenko could extend the lead, but did not beat Pankiv.

Shakhtar beat Stal with a minimal score and become the sole leaders of the Ukrainian Premier League. In the next round the Pitmen will play against Dynamo.
