The last month of the summer could be considered perfect if not for the defeat in Switzerland. In the remaining six games, the charges of Paulo Fonseca celebrated victories
In August, the Donetsk team, apart from taking part in the Ukrainian league, kicked off in the Europa League, where they were drawn against Istanbul Basaksehir (TUR) for the playoff round. The Orange-and-Blacks fairly easily coped with the opponents, who, curiously enough, had had two own goals. Overall, the charges of Paulo Fonseca scored 13 goals.
The Pitmen’s goals met every taste. Marlos, who became the top scorer for August, had netted two goals from long range. The goals involving Darijo Srna and Facundo Ferreyra were alike. The captain delivered it into the penalty area for the Argentinian to spectacularly head it just home. We should also highlight Viktor Kovalenko, whose two goals – off the goalpost against Karpaty and the header in Istanbul – are real stunners.
