On December 10, refugee kids – the displaced children from Donbass – attended one of Shakhtar’s last training sessions this passing year

About 50 children came with their parents to see how their favourite team is preparing for the major domestic Clasico against Dynamo Kyiv and to wish the players good luck in the upcoming match. At the end of session, the players and Paulo Fonseca handed the little fans huge boxes with gifts.

- It’s an excellent idea to invite children to the training session, - says Pyotr Kurkchi from Donetsk. – I came here with my son, who, incidentally, is also named Pyotr. He is six, and he really likes the team. We can say that his dream has come true today. On Monday, we will certainly support Shakhtar in the game against Dynamo. We have already purchased the tickets.

- I really liked today's meeting, - shares his impressions Pyotr Kurkchi Jr. - It is interesting to watch the players in real life and, of course, to get a gift. I have been attending football lessons for three years now. My favourite player at Shakhtar is Darijo Srna. I also like Andriy Pyatov. When I grow up, I really want to be a football player. I will score goals.

It was an atmosphere of fun, photos and autographs – the kids did not let their idols leave for quite a while. The warm reception ended with taking a group picture as memento. The children received some unforgettable experience, with the Pitmen being charged with positive emotions before the important match.

- Many kids came, we wished them to enjoy the coming holidays, - says the midfielder Maksym Malyshev. – The children are really happy and they passed their good mood to us. This is especially important before the tough encounter with Dynamo.

- We have been honoured to extend to the kids our wishes for the upcoming New Year holidays, - said the captain of Shakhtar Darijo Srna. – The little fans received gifts from us. Hopefully, they will soon be celebrating the New Year and Christmas in their homes. The kids wished us to win the game against Dynamo and, of course, to claim the league title, while our dream is that the war ends as quickly as possible.

This is not the first such campaign by Shakhtar. Last year, the Pitmen also greeted the refugee kids ahead of the New Year holidays.
