Shakhtar in the Netherlands: ahead of the game vs Vitesse
Saturday, July 2, 2016
On the morning of July 2, the day of the match against the local Vitesse, the Donetsk players had a training session on the Sportvereniging SV De Lutte pitch
The pre-match session lasted exactly one hour. With the arrival of internationals, the number of players increased, so Paulo Fonseca faces a tough choice in terms of picking the ones to leave the team. The coach is to announce his decision before departure for the second part of the training camp.
The newly arrived players have trained separately today. The footballers got some running workload, then Paulo Fonseca familiarised them with the new playing principles. Vasyl Kobin rejoined the general group. Bernard is still recovering from injury.
- Every day we are learning more and more new things, - says Shakhtar midfielder Wellington Nem. - The team is fully focused on the job. Training sessions are tough, but productive. The main thing is that each of us understands the importance of this training. I have a slightly different role now, which I'm not really used to. Paulo Fonseca demands more movement, accelerations and goals of me. And, of course, we all need to work for the team. Today, we are to play another pre-season game. We need to show through our performance all the things we learn in training. It’s also crucial to win.
Shakhtar’s pending schedule includes lunch and leaving for the game. Donetsk’s encounter with Vitesse kicks off at 6 pm Kyiv time (EET). Watch the live broadcast of the match on Futbol 2 channel.
Tomorrow, the team will conduct a morning session and then move to Horst.
