Throughout the football year, the fans selected Shakhtar’s Player of the Month
It's time to determine the Player of the Season at Shakhtar.
Let us remind you that the list of top players is as follows:
Alex Teixeira
The Brazilian midfielder was named the Player of July, September, October, November and December. He became the league’s top scorer, notching up 22 goals in 15 games. In February 2016, Alex Teixeira joined the Jiangsu Sainty FC for a record amount for both Ukrainian and Chinese football, being 50 million euros.
Marlos
He was voted the Player of August and April. In the 2015/16 season, the Brazilian midfielder became one of the team’s leaders. He boasts 12 goals, including the winning goal against Rapid in the Champions League qualifying stage, as well as against Schalke 04 in the Europa League Round of 32 away game.
Viktor Kovalenko
He was voted the Player of January. 20-year-old graduate of the Shakhtar Academy was last season’s finding. After the departure of Alex Teixeira, he took the role of the team’s main attacking midfielder. In the 2015/16 season, Viktor Kovalenko made 46 apps and scored 4 goals.
Andriy Pyatov
He was the Player of February. Andriy Pyatov has been consistently remaining Shakhtar’s main goalkeeper for several years now. Largely due to the goalkeeper, the Pitmen kept clean sheets in the important Europa League games.
Taison
He was voted the Player of March. Taison is one of the leaders of the current Shakhtar. Last season, the Brazilian midfielder made 42 appearances and netted 8 goals, also proving himself with some excellent assists. He scored an important goal in the Europa League Last 16 home game against Anderlecht.
Eduardo
He was voted the Player of May. Eduardo had a great season, amassing 41 apps and scoring 18 goals. Shakhtar forward has been Shakhtar’s best substitution scorer in the Ukrainian League history, boasting 10 such goals. Moreover, the number 22 grabbed a Premier League home brace against Dynamo.
