Shakhtar defender reflects on his new deal and the training process managed by Paulo Fonseca
- Ismaily, you’ve had your contract with Shakhtar extended for five years. How do you feel about it?
- I am very happy with the fact that I am going to defend the honour of such a big club for five more years. It is very important for me to be part of Shakhtar. Thanks to everyone for their confidence: the president, the club management, as well as the new coach. I will try to meet every expectation.
- Your first working week after the vacation is coming to a close. What do you make of the training sessions?
- I’ve got just the most positive impressions. The new coach perfectly knows his business. Now we are working on restoring our fitness, as well as on defensive organisation. The current training is different from what we had before. And I think the team are adapting well to the new requirements. We worked well during this week, leaving for the training camp in excellent mood.
- You’ve got a lot of new exercises in training. Can you highlight anything?
- For all of us the main thing now is understanding the coach’s philosophy and what he wants us to be like on the pitch. Of course, his assistants try to diversify our sessions as much as possible. Plus, we do special exercises to help us, for instance, to avoid injuries while playing. It is great that Paulo Fonseca clearly explains to us what goals we need to achieve.
