The Donetsk team players reflect on the return leg vs Sevilla
Darijo Srna, Shakhtar captain:
- The Spaniards deservedly advanced further. The third goal decided everything. Even after the second goal conceded, we had the strength to launch attacks and equalise, but they scored again. It was almost the end. We tried to attack more and continue to showcase good football, but Sevilla defended just expertly in terms of tactics. Unfortunately, we haven’t made it further, but that's still a great experience, especially for the young players at our team. In general, I believe that we have coped with the pressure exerted by the opponents, however they never forgive certain errors at this level. Gameiro capitalised on his chances, we knew how dangerous he is. Together we are to blame, together we lose and win. We cannot change anything now, we must just move on. Once again I want to thank our coaching staff and our team. We did a good job this season!

- Sevilla are a great team who converted their chances. The first goal against us was accidental. This could happen to anyone. After that, we took the initiative and equalised, but the second goal somewhat discouraged us. We charged forward and missed a counterattack. I should review why they didn’t run through in that episode, because they lost the ball in the very corner on the wing. I played against Sevilla footballer, but it was necessary to either advance earlier or... Mariano Ferreira also played well – with the third ball finding the back of the net. Clearly, it was hard to squeeze something as we were conceding 1-3 away, plus our strength was dropping down. Again, the Spaniards have a very good team. Had we more often met with such teams, we could have competed with them on equal terms. It is clear that the Spanish league is much stronger and they have more matches of this level. That’s why they do better in some episodes.

- First of all I want to congratulate Sevilla on the victory. Today, they have deserved it. Perhaps we lacked some concentration. In the first half we produced quite a good performance, while at the beginning of the second half they scored against us. It discouraged us a bit. I'm not saying that we didn’t have the opportunity to charge forward and score more goals, - unfortunately, we failed to do that. The third goal finally broke us... I didn’t know about my appearance in the starting line-up beforehand, since that’s always up to the coach to decide. Lately, I've been playing well enough, trying to play my own game. I am glad that I appeared from the off today and that I managed to prove myself.
