The Ukrainian Cup final has been the last game in Mircea Lucescu's spell at Shakhtar. The Football Club Shakhtar Donetsk thanks Mister for the years of his work at the club
Mircea Lucescu took charge of Shakhtar back in May 2004. Over 12 years with him at the helm, the team played 573 games and won 22 trophies. Mister led the Pitmen to claiming 8 domestic titles. The Orange-Blacks won the domestic cup 6 times and the Ukrainian Super Cup 7 times. Their biggest achievement in the European stage was raising the UEFA Cup back in 2009.
Mircea Lucescu is the all-time Shakhtar record holder in terms of his tenure as head coach and the number of games. 8 times Mister was recognized as Ukraine’s best coach. He boasts a few dozens of the club and all-Ukrainian records. Mircea Lucescu has inscribed his name in golden letters into the team’s history, Back in 2011, they unveiled his personal star in the Walk of Fame at near the Donbass Arena.
