On November 15, in Kharkiv, Ukraine national team entertained their Serbia counterparts in a friendly game

Ukraine 2-0 Serbia

Goals1-0 Shakhov (38), 2-0 Yarmolenko (88, pen.)

Ukraine: Boyko, Butko, Kryvtsov, Ordets, Fedetskyi, Malyshev, Sydorchuk (Rotan, 46), Shakhov (Zinchenko, 77), Karavaev (Petryak, 46), Tsyhankov (Yarmolenko, 65), Zozulya (Besedin, 62).

The Blue-and-Yellows’ coach Andriy Shevchenko – as compared to the 2018 World Cup qualifier against Finland – has left in the starting line-up only Shakhtar defender Bohdan Butko. Besides him, three more Pitmen appeared from the off. Serhiy Kryvtsov and Ivan Ordets appeared at centre back, with Maksym Malyshev taking a place in the holding area.

The first half passed at a steady pace with few threats occurring. Ukraine converted their only chance on 38 minutes. Artem Fedetskyi sent a cross from the left wing to Roman Zozulya, with Yevhen Shakhov firing it home past the away defender and keeper to make it 1-0.

After the break, the Serbs started operating more actively. The charges of Slavoljub Muslin had a number of opportunities to equalise. Midway through the half, Andriy Shevchenko made a number of substitutions, with all Shakhtar players remaining on the field. On 83 minutes, the Blue-and-Yellows had a good chance to double the lead. Bohdan Butko showcased his individual brilliance, reached the scoring range, but bending the ball insufficiently for the latter to hit the far top corner though. At the end of the meeting, the Ukrainians earned a penalty, which was converted by Andriy Yarmolenko. 2-0 is the outcome of the last game of Ukraine national team in 2016.
