Donetsk team’s players reflected on the encounter with Lviv

Viktor Kovalenko, Shakhtar midfielder:

- This season, this is our second so nervous a game against Karpaty. Today it was very difficult to rip open the opponents’ defence. It’s also a pity that Taras Stepanenko got injured. Perhaps, if he’d been on the pitch, there wouldn’t have been the penalty after which they scored. Nevertheless, we have managed to excel in the second half and we continue our winning streak. What the coach said during the break? He asked us to continue in the same vein: to attack, to win every challenge and score. Meanwhile, Lviv just parked the bus and, in my opinion, had just a few counterattacks, mostly to defend. Indeed, it is very hard to resist the opponents who just drop deep completely. With numerous players gathering in one place, making it hard to approach the goal. However, everyone plays like that in the Ukrainian League against us.
I was breaking away and felt pain in the back. The doctor said that’s a muscle problem, possibly a strain. Only time will tell whether I’ll be available for the game against Konyaspor. Tomorrow the doctors will diagnose me, making many things clearer
Taras Stepanenko, Shakhtar midfielder:

- I was breaking away and felt pain in the back. The doctor said that’s a muscle problem, possibly a strain. It is therefore necessary to recover for several days. Of course, it is unpleasant to get injured, but this is football, everyone goes through that. Basically, I already had something similar. I know from experience that it takes two to three days. Only time will tell whether I’ll be available for the game against Konyaspor. Tomorrow the doctors will diagnose me, making many things clearer. In any case, I will receive treatment in order to be ready for the closing games of the year.
