Tuesday, November 8, 2016
On November 8, Ukraine national team held an open training session at the NSC Olimpiyskyi ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Finland
Before the session, the head coach Andriy Shevchenko and the defender of Ukraine and Shakhtar Olexandr Kucher granted a press conference, answered the reporters’ questions and shared their expectations.
- We are facing a match against a good team, - Olexandr Kucher told the reporters before the session start. - Finland in the current qualifying competition have proved to be the strong opponents who challenge everyone else. So, I think, we are also facing a tough match. Nevertheless, we need the win only, and the guys will give their all to achieve it. In the nearest game, we must be focused until the last minute, without losing concentration and converting our scoring chances. That’s the only way to succeed.
Anyone who wanted to watch the open training session of the national team, could do so. Fans had the opportunity to have pics with the players taken and wish the latter good luck in the upcoming matches. We want to remind you that the meeting against the Finns will be held on November 12. The 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier will be held in Odesa.
- The meeting will be difficult, - said Ivan Ordets. - Finland are an organized team, who operate competently in their half of the pitch. That said, I would highlight their aerial performance. Just like all Scandinavians, our opponents stand out due to their uncompromising character and their will not to lose individual challenges for the ball. However, we will probably scrutinise the Finns’ performance closer to the match. In the meantime, we need to prepare well for the last qualifying match of the year to achieve a positive result.
After the game against Finland, Ukraine will have a friendly against Serbia in Kharkiv on November 15.
