As many as 14 Pitmen have been called up by their respective national teams
The head coach of Ukraine national team Andriy Shevchenko invited eight Shakhtar players. In the 2018 World Cup qualifiers against Turkey and Kosovo, he relies on the goalkeeper Andriy Pyatov; the defenders Olexandr Kucher,Yaroslav Rakitskyy, Bohdan Butko and Ivan Ordets; as well as the midfielders Taras Stepanenko, Maksym Malyshev and Viktor Kovalenko.
The first match against the Turks will take place on October 6 in the familiar Konya, where the Donetsk team successfully played in the Europa League against Konyaspor. The Ukrainians take on Kosovo in Krakow, Poland on October 9.
Shakhtar is most widely represented in Ukraine U21 team compared to the other clubs. Oleksandr Holovko has called up five Pitmen to take part in two 2017 UEFA European U21 Championship qualifiers. The defenders Taras Kacharaba, Mykola Matviienko and Ihor Kiryukhantsev; the midfielder Oleksandr Zubkov and striker Andrii Boriachuk may appear in a home game vs Northern Ireland (6 October) and away vs Iceland (11 October).
After the recent debut with Brazil national team, the attacking midfielder Taison once again received an invitation to play for the Pentacampeoes. On October 7, the Selecao will entertain Bolivia, taking on Venezuela away on October 12.
