Ahead of the 2017 UEFA European U21 Championship qualifier against Northern Ireland, the Ukraine U21 striker Andrii Boriachuk spoke about his debut with Ukraine U21, the mood in the team and the next meeting objectives

- You can regard the recent month as your asset: you scored in every game, also making your first Premier League appearance. In what mood did you join the national team?
- The mood is good. I want to prove myself and win the remaining games.

- Ukraine U21 team already lost the chance of advancing from the group. How will you motivate yourself for the games against Northern Ireland and Iceland? What goals do the coaching staff set for you?
- We must win the remaining two games and claim maximum points. The coaches what it from us, and we want it ourselves. Unfortunately, our team lost the chance of qualifying for the Euro 2017: we failed the qualifying stage kickoff, having suffered three defeats in a row, losing to Macedonia in a decider back in May. Never mind, we will continue to work and make progress. The national team has a great potential. We will still show our mettle!

- In the meeting with Scotland in early September, you made your first appearance with Ukraine U21 and immediately scored a goal. Are you happy with this kind of debut?
- Of course I am, because I didn’t just put on Ukraine shirt, which is a great honour in itself, but also scored a goal. So I am quite happy with my debut. I hope that I will continue in the same vein.
