Today, 21 September, Rinat Akhmetov marks his 50th birthday
The President’s ambitions and determination brought Shakhtar among Europe’s top football clubs. Nowadays they are the most decorated Ukrainian team of the new millennium, having already won 26 trophies over the years of his management. 9 league titles and the UEFA Cup take pride of place in this collection. At the same time, sincere love and respect of the fans who support the team in different places and on different continents remain to be the main sign of recognition of the Pitmen’s success.
Everyone knows that the heart of Rinat Leonidovich belongs to Shakhtar, although the President himself is the heart and soul of our Club. For two decades now, the enthusiasm, sporting ambitions, leadership talent, wisdom and intuition of the President are that very “bright football star”, which leads the team through development to the new victories and achievements. These days, Shakhtar is a symbol of modern football Ukraine, the Club with European name and mentality. The team who are loved by the fans for the character, for the outstanding and spectacular performances. The team who are well known and respected all over the world.
The Club President’s vigorous activity is not limited to the interests of football and spreads to other socially important areas of society. The Humanitarian Centre that was organised by him, provides assistance to hundreds of thousands of people in the conflict zone in the Donbass. Caring for and supporting the fellow citizens is the priority Rinat Akhmetov sets for himself. Today, his most cherished dream is peace and prosperity returning to the homeland, the Champions League theme song going at the Donbass Arena again, and Shakhtar making their fans happy with brilliant victories.
On this day, the coaching staff, the players, the club staff and millions of the Pitmen’s faithful fans sincerely and wholeheartedly wish the President the fulfilment of our common dream!
