Shakhtar midfielder speaks about preparation for the match against Dynamo
- On 9 September, we are facing a very important game. We have a great opportunity to break away from Kyiv by six points. Dynamo are the team who we want to beat always. We now need to understand how to act against them and show our best qualities to gain the upper hand in this clash.
- How are the team mentally preparing for the first derby in this new league season?
- Of course, everyone understands the importance of this Clasico. But we need to prepare for the meeting with Dynamo just as for a regular league game, no more than that.
- Will you be happy to return to Kharkiv and play in front of the Kharkov fans?
- I am glad that we will play in Kharkiv. That’s very important for me. After all, I lived there for three years. Kharkiv is a great city, where they always support Shakhtar well.
- Do you think the Pitmen will have an advantage in terms of support in the stands?
- When I played for Metalist, and we were playing at home against Shakhtar, there was a great atmosphere both in the stadium and in the city. I believe that on 9 September, the audience in Kharkiv will be more supportive of us, rather than Dynamo.
- If it ends in a draw, will Shakhtar be fine with it, given the current three-point gap between you and Dynamo?
- I think we need to go out and act without thinking about it. We will play to win – that’s for sure. Because later, we will face the away game against Dynamo. We must get ready to claim nothing but the three points.
