Press conference of the Pitmen’s head coach after the match vs Zorya

- The encounter was very intense and difficult. In the first half we had difficulties: Zorya put more pressure and were more aggressive. The opponents always won both the first and the second ball, making transitions to attacking and threatening. We experienced some difficulties with ordering our actions, however, we still produced a couple of dangerous episodes. Our performance in the second half was much better: there was more threat near the opposing goal, which led to scoring a goal, we also played quite well defensively. After the break, Shakhtar proved to be much stronger. We actually didn’t allow Zorya to create any chances near our goal, except one. In general, today we’ve defeated a very good team who have caused us numerous difficulties. They are top-quality opponents.

- On 53 minutes, Ismaily was awarded a yellow card for diving. Was it possible for the ref to take no notice of that moment or to award a spot kick, according to you?
- Let me say that for the referee the match was very difficult as well. There was much aggressiveness, alongside numerous touches and fouls with regard to both teams. I think in that episode Ismaily didn’t fake it. A little bit confusing situation. Of course, I respect the ref’s opinion, but I believe there was no diving there. I want to add something else, because I just can’t keep silent. The fans have created a fantastic atmosphere in the stadium! It’s very important, when at the end of the match they make both the players and the coaches applaud – the audience really deserve it today. Football is a festival for people to enjoy. On behalf of Shakhtar I want to congratulate the fans on the excellent atmosphere reigning at the match.
