Shyschenko: We're fully ready, looking forward to the tournament kickoff

On August 5, Shakhtar U19 will start their new season campaign
On the eve of the league opener against Olimpik, the head coach Serhii Shyschenko told about the team form.
- The preparatory period went well, the guys did a good job and fulfilled our programme. Over that period, we conducted a series of friendly games with the teams representing the Kyiv Oblast. I think my players are in great shape.
- How did you choose the team squad and can you name the leaders that you primarily count upon?
- A large group of Shakhtar U17 players joined us. We also have some players born in 1999: some of them currently play in the reserve team, another part are with us. It's too early to talk about leaders, as we are counting on everyone on the roster. Only competitive games will reveal those to meet the requirements.
- What objective are you setting for the Miners?
- The goal is maximum – challenging the league title, with all the guys perfectly understanding that. Again, we are well prepared for the new season. All the teams prepare to take on Shakhtar in a special way, so we can say only one thing: it won’t be easy against any side. But we are ready for that.
- You are facing participation in the UEFA Youth League. What are the coaching expectations of the tournament?
- I think any mentor finds it pleasant to participate in such competitions, no matter whether that’s the youth or adult league. My players and I look forward to the tournament. Just as to the resumption of the league. Everyone is missing football, we finally want some emotions, tension, the game itself.
The Shakhtar vs Olimpik game will be held in Schaslyve on August 5. It kicks off at 16:00.
