On November 30, the House of Football hosted an award ceremony to mark the best players and coaches of Ukraine's 2016/17 DUFL season
Shakhtar defender Mark Mampassi was recognised as the best defender in last year’s U14 group, and in the category U16, with the Miners Anatolii Trubin and Mykhailo Mudryk claiming both honourable awards in the U16 category.
We want to note that the nominees include the Shakhtar Academy students Oleh Ocheretko, Paolo Nedes, Mykyta Turbaevskyi, Bohdan Vyunyk and Oleksandr Kaschuk, as well as coaches Gennadiy Zubov and Oleksandr Sytnyk.
The Golden Balls were awarded to the best footballers by Shakhtar players Serhiy Kryvtsov, Maksym Malyshev, U17 coach Vyacheslav Shevchuk and a number of other famous football players and coaches.
- Awarding last season’s prize winners is an excellent initiative for promoting the youth sport in Ukraine. I want to mention the great organization of the event, - the Shakhtar Academy Director Jorge Raffo shared his impressions. - Without any doubt, such events together with the efforts of club academies and coaches will be a step towards bringing up the best players. I am fully convinced and see that Ukraine has many promising kids, in Shakhtar in particular. Due to the common work of our coaches, national teams’ coaches and those of the Federation, we can develop top-class performers. It's nice that eight players of Shakhtar Academy have been nominated and three more have received awards. They are gifted and have won deservedly! This award requires all the players to be role models. I also want to mention the hard work of the club's coaches - we have an important obligation to raise football players for the first team, and we will do so.
