Shakhtar’s Brazilian newcomer Dodo shared his impressions after signing the deal
- I’m very happy to have moved to Shakhtar! My dream has come true. I want to thank my family and everyone who helped and supported me. I’m glad that there are many Brazilians here, it will be easier for me to work and adapt.
- Did you communicate with any current or former Shakhtar players before signing the contract?
- Yes, I talked to Bernard. He praised the club and the country, he said that it’s safe here, that it’s interesting to work here and that I will enjoy it immensely. I'm already starting to think he’s right, seeing how well they received us. I will give my all.
- What do you know about the team and their head coach Paulo Fonseca?
- I’ve already had the opportunity to communicate with Paulo Fonseca. I realized that he’s a good coach, who constantly teaches his players something new. Hopefully, I’ll be helpful. I learned about Shakhtar about six years ago, I even watched their matches sometimes. I want to repeat that I'm happy to be here!
- Some other European clubs were also interested in you. What was the key point behind your decision to sign a deal with Shakhtar?
- The decision was collective: mine, of my family and close people. I think I’ll better fulfil my potential here. It's a great club who always vie for big trophies. I’m full of enthusiasm and, hopefully, I will help the new team.
- Do you already know the number you will get?
- I want to take number 98, I had it at Coritiba FC. The figure stands for my birth year - 1998.
