Shakhtar in Portugal: training session in Braga
Saturday, February 11, 2017
On completing a series of pre-season friendlies with the victory over Rio Ave, the Pitmen focused on preparation for the Europa League Round of 32 matches against Celta
Today, Shakhtar held their first training session in Braga under Paulo Fonseca. The two-hour session turned out very busy, including running activities, set of coordination exercises, squares game, as well as practical training on tactics. At the end, the players were split into two teams to play intense two-side game on one half of the pitch.
Interestingly, the Pitmen’s training session took place at the Estádio 1.º de Maio. The arena, put in operation in 1950, used to be SC Braga’s home stadium for more than half a century before being used as training camp for football players and athletes now. Besides, this construction is an historic landmark: the stadium was built entirely of stone and stylized after an ancient Greek arena.
Facundo Ferreyra and Viacheslav Tankovskyi are recovering from injuries and train individually. Taras Stepanenko has already started training together with the general group.
We should note that the Orange-and-Blacks switched to a one-session-a-day mode and currently allot more time for recovery procedures and theoretical classes.
