The Donetsk side footballers shared their experiences of the match against the team from Poltava

Oleksandr Pikhalionok, Shakhtar U21 skipper:

- We did a great job at the training camp, being fully prepared in terms of physical conditions, and set ourselves up for the opponents. However, not everything turned out as planned, with us especially falling short of incisiveness and aggressiveness offensively. We created several scoring chances, but failed to convert them. Vorskla punished us just with a single breakthrough and then dropped back in heavy defence, which was hard to carve open. It is unpleasant to begin a year with a loss, however, the fight goes on. It is necessary to analyse the mistakes and prepare for the next game. There are plenty of games ahead of us, and we are fighting for the title.
I believe that today we proved ourselves not badly, but fashioned few clear-cut opportunities and did not manage to convert those created
Viktor Kornienko, Shakhtar U21 defender:

- I am very happy to make a competitive start for the Pitmen’s reserve team and grateful to the coaching staff for entrusting me a place in the line-up. In terms of the game, I believe that today we proved ourselves not badly, but fashioned few clear-cut opportunities and did not manage to convert those created. Vorskla always produce defensive play and operates neatly and smartly defensively. And today, the Poltava side have parked the bus in front of their goal, keeping us at bay. At the same time, it took them just only one moment of danger to open the scoring. It's a pity, but such things happen in football. This means that our team will work with even greater motivation and total commitment. We will not retreat from our goal and continue to compete for the gold medals.
