On February 3, the Pitmen will face Aalborg as part of the Atlantic Cup

This club was established in the Danish city of the same name in 1885. The present day, Aalborg have claimed four domestic titles (with the last won in 2014) and raised three National Cups. In the season 2015/16 the team failed to reach European competitions’ zone, finishing fifth in the Danish Super League, with them occupying the eighth spot this season.

Aalborg's head coach is the 45-year-old Morten Wieghorst, the Denmark national team midfielder being well-known in the past. The very same day six years ago, Nordsjælland under his management met with the Pitmen in the Copa del Sol competition in Spain (the Donetsk side claimed a 3-1 victory). Later Wieghorst took charge of the Denmark youth team and Aarhus, and then worked as Michael Laudrup’s assistant at Swansea.

Aalborg stick to 4-4-2 formation. Among the team’s core players, one may pay attention to the goalkeeper Nicolai Larsen, the experienced midfielder Kasper Risgaard, the captain Rasmus Würtz, and the Cameroonian striker Christian Bassogog.

The Danish Super League resumes in two and a half weeks. In February, Shakhtar opponents are to take on Aarhus and Silkeborg pursuing them in the league table. With the Atlantic Cup being a part of their preparation, the Red-and-Whites started this campaign with a 0-1 defeat to Örebro, Sweden.

The encounter Aalborg vs Shakhtar kicks off at 18:00 Kyiv time (EET). The live broadcast will be available on Futbol 1 TV channel, and the text commentary - on shakhtar.com
