Shakhtar U21 have held a number of friendly games at the training camp in Turkey

One day after defeating Saudi Arabia U20,Valeriy Kryventsov’s men met with Varda SE. The backbone of the Hungarian team competing for a place in the top flight, features some more experienced players. Largely due to the physical strength, they netted two goals in each half.

On February 1, the Orange-and-Blacks were opposed by the Academija Pandev of Macedonia. In that encounter, the U21 coaching staff distributed the workload replacing ten outfield players on 60 minutes. The meeting ended in a 3-1 win for Shakhtar.

On Friday, the Donetsk team had a friendly against Antalyaspor U21. Despite the scoreline, the Turks put up some decent resistance, with the Pitmen still proving stronger both organisationally and in terms of converting their chances – 4-1.

After a series of test matches, the players got a day off, resuming their two sessions a day on February 5. In the current phase of the training camp, polishing up set pieces, shots on target and practising teamwork come to the fore.

- We have good competition in the team, - stresses the head coach of Shakhtar U21 Valeriy Kryventsov. - After each friendly, we carry out a detailed analysis and look for perfect combinations for our first league game this spring. We gave the lads equal chances to prove themselves. Without exception, all of them work with great dedication and want to appear in the starting line-up.

We want to add that this week the Pitmen will have test games against teams of Kazakhstan as well as against Olimpik Donetsk. The training camp in Turkey will last until February 17.
