On January 14, Shakhtar’s first training camp has kicked off
Having arrived from Kyiv by plane in the afternoon, Shakhtar footballers and team's personnel were met by Paulo Fonseca's coaching staff at the Principe Felipe Hotel. After exchanging greetings and sharing experiences from holidays, the players went off to have lunch and take a rest before getting together later in the afternoon for the first training session in 2017.
The Pitmen decided to refuse taking a bus and have covered a two-kilometre distance by bicycle that appears to become a traditional means of transport for the Donetsk side at the training camp. Today’s training session was intended to involve them in work-out activities: after giving an opening speech, the mentor expected his players to have light warm-up and ball-work.
The Brazilians were in high spirits as well, having already joined up with the team. Ismaily, Taison, Marlos, Azevedo, as well as the Argentine Facundo Ferreyra participated in the first training session. The remaining foreign players – Fred, Bernard, Dentinho and Alan Patrick – arrived at the hotel before the dinner.
– It has been a perfect start to the training camp! The first training session went in a reasonably comfortable mode, with exercises requiring little activity and being adaptation-oriented, mainly, – Ismaily told. – Getting tired after the flight, surely, we need to recover but we are feeling good. Besides, it is always cool to meet the lads again. For a whole month, we have been wide apart from each other and missed all of us. I would like to tell of many things and share my experiences from the holiday. However, we should keep in mind that it is time for work and we are happy to get back to training. At the first stage of the training camp, it is crucial to adapt to physical loads and get into condition. In addition, from then on, we will be polishing our tactical skills thanks to friendly matches.
Starting tomorrow, the training camp will return to normal: Shakhtar are expected to have two training sessions and recovery procedures.
