Shakhtar in Portugal: opening training session in Lagos

Following the training camp in Spain and a short trip to Kyiv, the Pitmen made their way to the south of Portugal. The team will continue preparing for this season on the Iberian Peninsula
The Orange-and-Blacks are going to stay in the city of Lagos on the coast of the Atlantic ocean for the next two weeks. Shakhtar are expected to have training sessions, a series of friendlies, as well as to take part in the Atlantic Cup competition.
Paulo Fonseca’s men have already started training. At 17:00 local time, the Donetsk team conducted a session on the training pitch, which is located a minute's walk from the Hotel Cascade. Running practice, a series of warm-up exercises, two-sided game on the half of the pitch and stretching at the end of the session appear to be sufficient workload on the first day.
- It is my first training camp in Portugal, however, this region does not differ greatly from Spain. Training fields are located just next to the hotel, - tells Shakhtar defender Mykola Matviienko. - On the first day after a weekend, we had an adaptation-oriented session, mainly doing the ball-work. I think starting tomorrow, we are in for a great work. Now, all our thoughts are focused on preparation for the season’s second part, so we try to give all out to the fullest in every session.
For tomorrow, the team have put on the list two training sessions.
