Shakhtar defender reflects on his holiday, training camp preparation and plans for the year 2017

– Serhiy, the vacation comes to an end in a matter of days. Are you ready for the season’s second part?
– Yes, absolutely. I have had a perfect rest. First, I spent 10 days with my wife and children at the seaside. I saw in the New Year in Kyiv, then, on January 2, we left for Zaporizhzhia to visit parents. We always try to come home for a stay. It makes a great difference to devote time to relatives, since we occasionally see each other. They are anxious to spend time with their grandchildren. We are in Zaporizhzhia so far, but we are coming back to the capital very soon.

– What teammates do you keep in contact with?
– I do with all of them, over the phone, mainly. We called each other, sent season's greetings to one another. Besides, we created a group in Whats App where we exchange our pictures. So far, I have been communicating and training together with familiar lads from Zaporizhzhia-based Metalurg.

– Have you started preparing for the training camp?
– Certainly, everyone has an individual training programme. It is vital, as it takes a lot of efforts to regain form after doing nothing for a month. It is better to be keeping yourself up.

– What would you like to wish yourself and the team for New Year?
– I want me and my family to be healthy – it is essential in life. Regarding Shakhtar, I have only one wish – to secure all titles we have been fighting for. We’ve got plenty of games ahead, so we must give our all to claim the league title, raise the Ukrainian Cup and, surely, advance in the Europa League as far as possible.
