Shakhtar U19 are back from vacation following the senior team and the U21 outfit

They have already started preparing for the league season. Head coach Serhii Shyschenko told about the staffing, the plans for the nearest month and the expectations of the upcoming season.

- We started training early this week: we gathered the guys at the training base in Schaslyve, spending two days on tests and physical examination, and yesterday we had the first training sessions. We are planning to have two sessions a day: fitness, gym and aerobics in the morning, and another session on the pitch in the evening. We will be preparing in this fashion until the very start of the league season. In addition, from July 18 we will start playing friendlies. Everyone’s in a great mood! We can see that the players really want to work and adopt the ideas of the coaching staff.

- How much will change the Shakhtar U19 squad compared to the last season?
- The squad will be substantially updated. The U17 team who played in the DUFL last season, is fully under our management now. This will be our backbone. We are familiar with the players: many of them trained with the U19 squad, we closely followed their games, their progress, so we perfectly know everyone’s capabilities. Also, four guys from last year’s U19 squad have been training with us. But we should take into account that many young footballers currently train with the reserve team, and it’s possible that some of them will subsequently return to us.

- This season will be special: in addition to the league, the Miners are facing the UEFA Youth League.
- Of course, participating in the European competition will add special emotions to the season. It will be interesting and exciting, but we all look forward to the UEFA Youth League start and thoroughly prepare for it. I'm sure that this is a big challenge and good motivation for the guys, because we set only the maximum goals – both in the Ukrainian League and in the European arena.

Shakhtar U19 will start the new season on August 5 with a home Ukrainian league fixture vs Olimpik.
