The Ukrainian Super Cup tie’s Player of the Match shared his take on the encounter with Dynamo and told about the preparation for Vorskla
- The new season has started for me better than I could imagine. Shakhtar won the Ukrainian Super Cup, I’ve scored two goals in the ‘Clasico’. I’m happy to have helped the team to claim the first trophy this season. That’s really important for me. But we must already forget about that victory. The league season is kicking off, we’re facing some tough encounters.
- Have the goals you scored in the Super Cup decider vs Dynamo been a result of the set play?
- Yes, we practised those pieces ahead of the meeting with the Kyivites. It's good that we managed to fulfil on the pitch everything we’d planned. Nothing happens by accident in Shakhtar’s performance, all the players know what to do in certain episodes. And, of course, we carefully prepare to take on each opponent.
- Then what could you say about Vorskla? Have the Poltava side changed during the pre-season preparation?
- Vorskla have always been strong and troublesome opponents. Today, we analysed their play in a theory session. We must be focussed from the first to the last minute. It’s crucial to start the league season with a win. I think that Shakhtar enjoy their largely perfect form. Currently, we’ve been working on honing some details. We should step it up with every game.
