Before the match

Next Shakhtar’s opponents during the pre-season break were Bochum, Germany representing the 2nd Bundesliga. The Donetsk side’s head coach Paulo Fonseca featured Dentinho in the role of a nominal forward. Ivan Petryak’s maiden outing in the starting XI is also worth noting, who took the position of a left midfielder.
Yaroslav Rakits’kyy flicked a powerful shot from the penalty area, before Bochum goalkeeper failed to deny the danger – 1-0
First half

The early stages of the meeting saw even game. The Miners’ opponents did not sit back in their own half of the pitch and offered a fairly high pressure. Both teams exchanged attacking moves, however, the scoring chances did not arrive. Soon Shakhtar players brought the ball under their control to register an opener in the 15th minute. Yaroslav Rakits’kyy flicked a powerful shot from the penalty area, before Bochum goalkeeper failed to deny the danger – 1-0. The advantage of the Orange-and-Blacks appeared even more clearly minute-by-minute, but they managed to convert it into a goal only in the dying minutes of the first half. Again, it was not without Yaroslav Rakits’kyy. This time the goalkeeper managed to parry the defender's blow, before Dentinho was the first to get onto the rebound and fired it home to double the lead – 2-0. An effort came the German side’s way, when Diamantakos went one on one with Mykyta Shevchenko, however, the rivals did not take advantage of his opportunity.
Vyacheslav Tankovskyi could make his mark on the scoresheet only to see his shot missing the target after Oleksandr Zubkov flicked the ball on him
Second half

After the break Shakhtar renewed their line-up, with only captain Darijo Srna and midfielder Taison remaining on the pitch. In the early stages of the match, the opponents exchanged threatening attacking moves. First, after Hinterseer’s belter from the close range Andriy Pyatov saved his teammates, as David Khocholava sent a dangerous header during the following attacking move, and Bochum goalie turned the ball behind for a corner. The German team started to operate more aggressively, whereupon the game became even. Vyacheslav Tankovskyi could make his mark on the scoresheet for the Orange-and-Blacks only to see his shot missing the target after Oleksandr Zubkov flicked the ball on him. At the end of the match, the sides slowed down the pace. The opponents continued to pose threats near each other’s goals, but not as threatening as before. As a result, Shakhtar claimed a second victory at the training camp courtesy of first-half goals by Yaroslav Rakits’kyy and Dentinho.

The next friendly will be held in Stadthagen on July 3. The Miners will play Odense, Denmark at 17:00.
