Before the match
Next Shakhtar’s opponents during the pre-season break were Bochum, Germany representing the 2nd Bundesliga. The Donetsk side’s head coach Paulo Fonseca featured Dentinho in the role of a nominal forward. Ivan Petryak’s maiden outing in the starting XI is also worth noting, who took the position of a left midfielder.

The advantage of the Orange-and-Blacks appeared even more clearly minute-by-minute, but they managed to convert it into a goal only in the dying minutes of the first half. Again, it was not without Yaroslav Rakits’kyy. This time the goalkeeper managed to parry the defender's blow, before Dentinho was the first to get onto the rebound and fired it home to double the lead – 2-0. An effort came the German side’s way, when Diamantakos went one on one with Mykyta Shevchenko, however, the rivals did not take advantage of his opportunity.

Vyacheslav Tankovskyi could make his mark on the scoresheet for the Orange-and-Blacks only to see his shot missing the target after Oleksandr Zubkov flicked the ball on him. At the end of the match, the sides slowed down the pace. The opponents continued to pose threats near each other’s goals, but not as threatening as before.
