On July 5, Shakhtar will hold the fourth friendly game at the German training camp. The Orange-and-Blacks are going to play Kiel-based Holstein

The football club from the city in the north of Germany was founded in 1900. In the pre-war time, Holstein became the national champion (1912). Later, the Blue-White-Reds did not achieve great success, except for winning the titles in Oberliga or Regionalliga (the fifth and fourth level divisions, respectively).

Every year, they play out 21 Regional Cups in Germany. In the season 2016/17, the Miners’ opponents raised Schleswig-Holstein Cup for the 16th time in their history. However, the great result was sealing a place in a higher division: finishing second Holstein was promoted from the third division to the second Bundesliga.

41-year-old Marcus Anfang manages the team. A native of Cologne, who played for a number of German and Austrian clubs, hung up the boots seven years ago. Since 2013, Marcus had been coaching Bayer Leverkusen U17, before he took charge of Holstein in the summer of 2016. This side’s most outstanding football player is Kingsley Schindler, playing on the right flank.

The club holds official home matches at the Holstein Stadion, which accomodates about 11 thousand spectators.

The clash Shakhtar vs Holstein will take place at Eintracht Stadion in Neuenkirchen. It kicks off at 18:30 Kiev time. The match will be aired live on Futbol 2 TV channel, and online text commentary will be available on shakhtar.com.
