The legendary defender finishes playing for Shakhtar
Olexandr Kucher joined the Donetsk club in the summer of 2006, making his debut in the Ukrainian League game against Metalist (5-0). The player immediately picked number 5 and had it for 11 years.
With his reliable and confident defensive performance, Kucher helped the Miners to win 20 trophies: the UEFA Cup, 7 championships, 6 Cups and 6 Super Cups of Ukraine. He also scored a few important goals: particularly memorable to the fans is the 2012 Ukrainian Cup final winner and his brace against Dynamo at the Donbass Arena. In total, the vice-captain made 295 appearances for Shakhtar and netted 12 goals.
