Head coach Paulo Fonseca fielded 35 players in the 2016/17 season
Aggregately, Shakhtar took part in 48 matches (without taking into account the Ukrainian Cup meeting vs Poltava, when Shakhtar won by default). Marlos leads in terms of the number of appearances (44). Stepanenko is second with 41 apps. Taison, Ismaily and Pyatov have 40 apps each.
It is noteworthy that in over 50% of the meetings appeared just 15 Miners, along with Blanco Leschuk who joined them in mid-season.
Over the past season, eight players debuted for Shakhtar in competitive games: Mykyta Shevchenko, Bohdan Butko, Viacheslav Tankovskyi, Andrii Totovytskyi, Oleh Kudryk, Ihor Kiryukhantsev, Oleksandr Pikhalyonok and Gustavo Blanco Leschuk who joined the team this winter.
